Contestants

All contestants must devote 10 consecutive days to the show. 

Contestants will be asked to bring a minimum of 25 photos of their childhood, adolescence, high school years, college tenure, and professional career. These photos must be individual photos with no other persons. Contestants must give show producers the right to use these pictures within the show and for promotional purposes. Additionally, video clips will be used in the same manner.

Contestants must be able to travel via the airline designated by the show’s executive producer and must have a valid passport or visa.

Contestants must adhere to all call times and participate until they are removed from the contest by the show judges. 

Contestants must agree to use only a Thesaurus and a Dictionary as writing tools. If the contestants need to research material, it must be done online.

Contestants will be asked to verbalize their thoughts throughout the entire program, giving the producers adequate video material for the program.

Contestants will be asked to refrain from using profanity. However, the words “ass” and “bitch” will be allowed, but not excessively.

Contestants must use the names of the characters provided by the show. Any deviation from those characters will require immediate removal from the show.

An alternate team will be used in the show, however, it is not guaranteed that the alternate team will make the show. The alternate team will be onsite in case one team is disqualified.

Contestant Rules

Contestants will have two (2) hours to write, research and review their material. The show producer will select the genre and the contestants will be required to write a chapter based on the characters that are provided by the show’s executive producer. That chapter, however, should be able to double as a stand-alone short story and should be at least three pages, double-spaced.  There will be eight aspiring authors at the beginning of the show.

Contestants will select a location within the hotel and write their material.

Contestants must bring a working laptop computer. If the computer malfunctions during the taping, the contestant will be eliminated.

Contestants will be judged on the following:

  • Writing
  • Presentation

Contestants will be aspiring writers, self-published authors and veteran wordsmiths. They must be 21 -70 years old and in good health.

Contestants will be required to sign a statement of morality ensuring that they will abide by show rules and will not engage in any illegal activity while involved with the show.
