It’s the ultimate reality series, the ultimate game show and the ultimate half-hour of intriguing storylines. The Ultimate Author is an awesome television program packed with entertaining, engaging and interesting events. Each week, contestants go toe-to-toe in a writing competition that tests their ability to develop attention-grabbing content.

While an author’s primary role is to create a literary masterpiece, they must also demonstrate that they can handle the responsibilities of The Ultimate Author.  

Contestants in this competition must be smart enough to spell well, creative enough to coordinate a themed book club gathering, savvy enough to handle an ambush interview, wise enough to develop an effective marketing plan, and talented enough to help design an eye-catching book cover. 

Within the half-hour, contestants compete as a group and individually. The contestant with the least amount of points for that week will be asked to close their laptop and leave the premises. The judges tasked with scoring the contestants will be literary magazine publishers, veteran authors, journalists, book store representatives, and creative development managers from publishing houses. There will be three permanent judges and one guest judge selected who excels in the chosen genre selected for that week or for the activity. Additionally, viewers will get a chance to participate as a guest judge by filling out the form on the website. 

The show begins with eight contestants from around the country. These contestants will be discovered during a casting call in South Florida . The chosen contestants will fly to South Florida to videotape for 10 days in a tropical setting. Contestants vying for a spot on this show must be 21 years old and possess a valid driver’s license.

Each week, a different genre will be selected. Contestants will be given two hours to write a chapter about the following: romance, mystery, science fiction, sports, travel, motivation/inspiration, health, entertainment, children’s book, business, or a biography.

Before each writing exercise, the contestants will venture to a location to help jumpstart their thought process. For example, if the contestants are writing about science fiction, they will take a tour of the Science Museum in Miami . If they are writing a children’s book, they will visit the ultimate children’s getaway, Children's Museum on Watson Island. If they are writing about sports, they will visit the newly renovated dog track in Hollywood , Florida or a Miami Heat basketball game.

The Ultimate Author will be the ultimate visual show. It will be filled with awesome scenes of South Florida ’s shorelines, colorful and inviting skylines, bold hues featuring South Beach ’s historic hotels, and well-manicured landscapes with green grass and tropical plants.

The Ultimate Author will be an upbeat show attracting viewers from 18-44 years old. Book lovers will find it a welcomed treat as the contestants read their entries each week. While the show’s pace is guaranteed to attract viewers, the instrumentals playing under each segment will have an equally pleasing affect on the show.

The show climaxes in the last episode as the final three contestants battle it out. The winner is announced and receives a myriad of gifts from sponsors including the coveted prize of a book deal to write their own paperback.

The website will play an intricate role in the success of The Ultimate Author. While contestants will only read 20-30 seconds of their entry on camera, the full version of their submissions will be available online for viewers.
